About The Author

I became a Generosity Expert when I realized that I was by nature a selfish person. Even though my mom was an incredibly generous person, and time and again modeled for me everyday acts of kindness and generosity, I didn’t live up to her example.

Then I had an experience that changed my life. I invited an older man I hardly knew to spend Thanksgiving dinner with me at a Chinese restaurant. Honestly, I hoped he’d say no. But he said yes, so I picked him up, and we drove into town where we shared plates of sesame chicken and beef with broccoli while he talked about his kids. When I looked across the table, I didn’t see a stranger. I saw a father who was proud of his kids. I saw a man who regretted his past. I saw a human being who rarely had an opportunity to talk with someone who cared about him.

Suddenly, I realized that it really is the small acts of daily generosity that make life worth living. I committed myself to figuring out how I could be more generous every day of my life.
